The Premier men met Caversham at Tonga Park. Coach Michael Fridge disappointed with first half effort which saw them 1 nil down at halftime. We conceded early in second half before our fight to the end mentality kicked in and a strong 40 minute effort saw us get home with a draw. Later in the season we will see if this is a point gained or 2 lost.A week off next week for Chatham Cup gives us rest & recovery that is gratefully accepted. Tech scorers were George Milne and POD Tim McLennan.Mike was looking slightly more relaxed after this weeks game knowing the bye was due and players would be returning.

The Fletcher Cup

boys travelled to Ellis Park to play Roslyn Weary and in the end were outplayed finishing 4 nil down. They just didn’t seem to spark from the beginning. The team needs to understand that consistent and productive time on the practice pitch is what has led to our successes in the past and it needs to start happening now for us to contest this season. POD to young gun keeper Liam Whittaker, a shining example of hard work paying dividends.
Richard and his 3rds

were at Tonga against a very good an experienced Caversham side. We didn’t really feel we were in the game in the first half. The second half was much better and on a lucky day may have stolen a point. POD to Josh Brommel. Final score 0-1
The 4ths

meet a much faster and fitter Varsity side at Logan Park and were on the receiving end of a 6 nil loss. It could have been much worse if not for the acrobatics of Player of the Day Keeper Jason Little. Take a lesson from Thursday nights training!!
Moosie and the Gerries

side lost 14-1 to Northern at Forrester. POD and tech goal scorer was German prodigy Devan Boje. It might pay to find some German resilience at the back Moose!! Good to see Craig at Am I fit this week working out strengthen the back at 6.00am 3 times this week, long may it continue. How is the Peppermint Tea?.
The Might Colts

met their match in the Roslyn Wakari Stallions in the only game at home for tech this week. Roslyn are a good side and deserved their 3 nil victory in game played in good spirits. Pete McCall was great in goals and a man of the match performance from Chris ‘Spongy’ Whelan. Wade disappeared at halftime leaving us with just 11 but he must of gone with Craig also as he has been beefing it up with Tim Reba at Am I fit this week also
A very short and concise report from LT on the Frotters game against GI at Sunnyvale, they lost 1-2 with goal ace Steve Dunn netting again. Player of the Day was Phil Craig. Fishing is a new topic of conversation for this team this year but no fish has been seen in the Culling Lounge as yet????.

The Premier girls

faced perennial foes Roslyn at the Caledonian on Sunday. Weather Gods not playing fair, would have been dryer at Moana. The game wasn’t a glowing advertisement for football but as the players adapted to the conditions both sides began to play structured football. Tech playing into the weather were defending a lot but were able to launch a few attacks of their own. Although a Roslyn shot hit the upright, we were able to repel them. Some hard running forced a Roslyn mistake and Chelsea capitalised to give us a 1 lead at halftime and a second half with the weather at our backs to come. Now whether the game should have preceded in the tough conditions is debate for another day, but to call it off at halftime with no change in conditions is hard to fathom, hard to believe no one was influenced, only one team happy about this. Roslyn have dodged one here.
Rob and his Premier Diamonds

played Northern at Culling, trying to get their first win of the season. Up 2 nil, the girls let the game slip and finished 3-2 down in a game completed in trying conditions. POD was the ever reliable Tabitha Seaton who scored both Tech goals.Culling Park stood up well to the weather conditions.
The Swans ventured out to Sunnyvale to play GI Gold in pursuit of their first win for the season and this they did. Conditions suited the Swans not quite growing webbed feet but 2 goals past the Green Island Keeper to win 2-1. Well done the Swans.

Forsyth Barr Stadium has been offered by DVML/DCC to Premier Football for the weekend of the 18th and 25th May. Unfortunately our Senior Men have missed out on the opportunity to play at the Stadium but the Premier Woman and the Premier Diamonds have both been awarded to play their respective fixtures on those weekends.

Saturday 18th May Roslyn versus Tech Diamonds 12.45pm

Saturday 25th May Woman’s Knockout Cup Tech Prems versus Queenstown 12.45pm

Otago United are proud to announce Ken Creswell from Invercargill has joined the Otago United Board

Also they are half way down the road to finding our new name. Stage one is complete and we have received some really great ideas from a huge number of fans. Many thanks if you were one of them! Recent sponsors have been Spazio Casa with Match Balls and Athletes Foot sponsoring apparel for the Premier Men Polo Shirts. Please contact any committee member if you are interested in a sponsorship deal and how you or your company can benefit from being a Tech Sponsor.

Premier Men This weekend was always going to be a hard one with Green Island having a New lease of life in their Club with the association through the Burnley Academy and a New coach on board this season. Mike still struggling to have his first team players available through to injuries and travel commitments.POD Goalkeeper Tom Batty was in fine form and managed to keep Tech in the game with some great goalkeeping under pressure. Eventually with just a few minutes to go, the goal lock was broken and G.I put two away to finish 2-0 winners. Looking ahead to future fixtures and the return of some of the squad from travel and injuries it is becoming apparent that the league is more than a 2 horse race this season. Next up Cavy at Tonga.

Fletcher Cup Boys were early at Culling Park versus Green Island. It was exciting to see two 15 year old keepers who have come through the Tech system in both nets, both who have trained and played together for the last 6 seasons reaching Senior 2nd XI football at this youthful age. But it was the wise head of Jim Letts who stabilised the young Tech Heads and steered them to victory in this closely and evenly contested match. Tech were up 2-0 at halftime and this is how it finished. Good to see some Big support at Culling Park for the early game

3rd’s Richard was ecstatic in his speech this week and rightly so. There hasn’t been such an exuberant speech from a 3rd team coach for some time or a 5-0 win from a 3rd team for some time so he had every reason to smile. The Youthful 3rd Team still selecting a team of players available on Saturday morning were fizzed up and went out for victory right from the start. POD Eliot scored a screamer from long range as part of the two he put away and Wali also bagging two. Grants Braes went down 5-0 but both teams seem to be nurturing young players which is good to see from the Clubs.

Robbie’s 4th’s also had their first win of the season. As mentioned last week the 4th Team Boys are pumped and early in the season to have 3 points in the bag has made all Rob Christmas wishes come true. Gareth and David put in the goals for the 4th’s early in the game which meant Rob was under pressure on the side line and nails been bitten for 35 minutes as the boys held on for a 2-1 win

Craig’s Gerries had he bye and are still recovering from the Trauma of a 10-0 thrashing last week maybe time to bring back in the young guns this week

Wades Colts were up at a Tropical Forester Park versus a never ageing Northern Relics Team. In a spirited game the Colts won 4-2 but it should have been 20. For some reason this season the goals are not hitting the back of the nets Plenty of woodwork and near shin misses but no goals. This week it is the Stallions so the boys will have to be on target for this one and some extra fitness training on Thursday may help. Inspirational Mentor Shane (Fatty) Mathews was in fine form after moving fire wood in the morning came out fired up and was determined to make sure the boys didn’t loose, pity he is out this week.

The Frotters struggled for numbers this week also with a few of the boys away fishing and school holidays meant that they were up against it from the start on the slick park of Culling number 2.They faced a strong Roslyn Colts side who came out strong from the start. There is not many teams that can silence the Frotters but this time they were on the back foot and went down 8-1.

Woman’s Premier Football Premier Woman’s Football saw some success for the Club this weekend. On Ladies day at the Club the Prems and the Diamonds did battle on Culling number one. Both teams had the bare eleven which always meant it was going to be a strong encounter. The Prems were soon 1 up but the Diamonds were resilient and didn’t lie back.It was a good advertisement for Premier Woman’s Football at the Club. Eventually the Prems hit the Diamonds goal line 6 more times and were eventual winners 7-1. The Diamonds face Northern this Sunday at Culling Park in one of their target games for the season whilst the Prems battle it off against a strong Roslyn team at the Caledonian

The Swans were out to get their first points of the season. In a tough encounter against a Northern Team, the Swans battled well against them. Young new signing Aleisha got a goal that put them one up and Tori should have made it two up. Noel was called upon a couple of times from the Northern girls for a few bruises and clashes. With just a few minutes to go Northern pulled back the equaliser, then almost had a late winner but the game ended in a draw and both teams sharing their first points of the season..

Juniors and Academy

So look out for the fixtures on the website or in the ODT tomorrow. Also I have attached them to this document. TechnicalWay Academy starts 10.00 am Sunday.

Premier Men were on fire against a stroppy Queenstown who packed a sad and failed to come back to the Club after the game. Man of the Match Aaron Burgess on fire and on target again to ensure the team finished Queenstown off with an 8-1 victory but still one point behind Caversham. Boys head off to Wellington this week for their Chatham Cup tie versus Miramar. Congratulations to Joe Clark for his first appearance in a Tech 1st Team shirt.

The 2nds knew they were going to be up against it travelling to Ellis Park for a Big game in a top of the table clash. Roy and Barry’s boys came out fighting and secured a 1-1 draw. This result and with Caversham dropping three points at at home to Northern leaves this table right open for any of the top three to grab.

The 3rds soon had their backs against the wall on the slippery Champagne Turf of Culling Park and saw themselves behind by four early in the game. but to the boys credit they never let their heads down and managed to pull two goals back but it was just to late and went down 2-8. Thanks Mike for looking after the Boys while Steve is away.

4ths battled hard in the Curtain raiser at De Carle Park and hung on for a defiant 0-0 draw against Caversham Smegs

Colts are playing Top Six play offs and were up against Grants Braes. We went up 1-0 and thought this was going to be our day but it was not to be. Grants Braes came out hard in the second half and ended up 6-2 winners. The game could of gone either way and thanks to some great referring the game was well controlled. The boys are enjoying top six football

Gerries played the Frotters in the main game at De Carle. Unfortunately for the Gerries the Frotters were were to strong despite the games being close at halftime with just one goal in it, Chids the mastermind of halftime speeches spurred the Frotters up and ended up 6-2 winners.

Sunday

The Swans continue their excellent run playing top of the table Roslyn White and to everyone’s disbelief were 4-0 after 20minutes, that’s without Maggie and Boomer who are both away on leave. The Swans ended the game 5-3(4) winners which would open the table up for the Diamonds to go top if they could beat Mosgiel.

Diamonds were at a slippery and dangerous Memorial Park and not ideal for Sunday football as some crunching tackles went in during the firs 15 minutes. Diamonds needed a win to go to go top but unfortunately held out a 0-0 draw. Mostly due to Keeper Jade in the first half and some poor finishing attempted from the Diamonds but the girls have performed well throughout the season so far.

Lip sync has now moved to Saturday 28th July due to the Chatham Cup draw . Hope you have all got your acts together.

Security will be in attendance and know one will be allowed to leave with out Parents picking them up. Disco to start 7pm-9.30. Advanced ticket sales only.

Junior Coaches please make sure to all information to Karen early on Saturday after your games thanks and please remind POD’s about attending prize giving each Saturday from 5.00pm. Thanks for all your support so far this season.

Rep Trials just a reminder girls trials this Saturday at Tahuna Park 14th grade 12.30pm, 17th grade 2.00pm. Well done to all those that trialled last weekend good luck.

Premier Men at Tahuna Park in the Chatham Cup versus Western. A strong first half from the Boys resulting in an Alastair Rickeby opener but again we failed to capitalise. Playing with the wind in the second half confidence was high on capitalising on the lead but Western came out guns firing but the Boys held on for a 1-0 win and into the draw for Quarter Finals. We now have been drawn against Miramar Rangers Sunday 22nd July in Wellington. See Orbit /House Travel for any flights to support the boys

Last Weeks Round Up

On Friday night Unfortunately the Frotters went down to Roslyn but once again Friday Night Football creating some drive with good numbers in the Culling Lounge in the lounge after the game Well done.

Saturday saw the 2nds finish off Green Island in a tight game with Green Island Prems having a bye it was always going to be a tough day at the office but Roy and Barry’s boys ended up 2-0 winners

The 3rds had a great 3-1 win over Melchester and I believe this is the first time in this division that we have ever beaten Melchester and Steve short speech in the club afterwards was just magic !!!

4ths battled hard against Green Island but unfortunately went down 2-1

Colts entered the Top six play offs and were up against a fast and fit Roslyn Stallions. Despite some heroic Goalkeeping efforts out side the box and a bit of Testosterone on the field the boys went down 5-0.

Gerries also sunk to a 3-1 loss at Ocean Grove despite having the resources of Johan Koustal appearing in his first run for Tech this season.

Then there was Sunday

Premier Woman finally got the Roslyn monkey off their back with an outstanding 3-0 victory at Culling Park. The girls were under pressure for the first 25 minutes but held out and were up 1-0 from Suzie Foster at half time. Then we dominated the second half throughout and 2 goals from Chelsea made it 3-0. Graeme’s new formation made the girls work hard in the Centre Midfield and back 3 but their efforts held out.

Diamonds again were emphatic winners over Green Island with a 4-0 win which really should have been double figures but now sit second in the Senior woman’s Ladder.

The Swans continue their excellent run playing early out at Sunnyvale so they could support the other teams ended up 6-1 winners which sees their top 4 dream still alive

Lip sync has now moved to Saturday 28th July due to the Chatham Cup draw

Tough day at the office for the Premier lads who took on Caversham at the Caledonian. We dominated the first half and led through a goal by Rodden. Not sure what happend at half time but we never showed up for the second half. Caversham scored 3 goals in the space of 7 minutes and were deserved winners. Still there is a hell of a lot left in this season yet. POD Tristan. The Fletchers played a well organised Caversham side who were 2nd in the league. Our young side battled well but tended to struggle with the pitch conditions. Letts again led the defence well. We were undone by a Horner stunner. Caversham go top. POD James McLean.

The 3rds took on University, again with several players out. We lost 4-6. But a good effort for a side which was really our 4ths. POD Gareth Shanks.

Colts travelled to Northern, and were deserved winners 5 nil, a couple of stunners to Mike Lobb, even Gerry Shin got one. Our target this season was to be in top 6, well done lads. POD Mike Lobb.

Frotters also played Northern and were down 1-2 at half time, Toots opening the scoring for us. A few choice words at half time, and Coach Chids went to his go to man Steve Dunn who once again got the final goal to give us a deserved point. POD Barnie.

The struggling Gerries played Roslyn in the only game at Culling. Were up 2 nil, but their old legs ran out of steam. Losing 3-5. Wolfie announced the two players in Centre Midfield combined ages were 131. Great to see Gerry Shins old striking partner Grim back on the score sheet, just checked the odds at the TAB to see who is going to score the most goals this season between these two, Grim at $1.70 Gerry Shin and $3.30, some sizable Colts bets being unloaded on Grim late on Saturday afternoon.

On Friday night the Swans hosted the Diamonds, a good even encounter. Diamonds took their chances and won 3 1. Great to see Friday night football continuing to be a success.

Next Sunday we are hosting Western in the next round of the Chatham Cup 1pm kick off at the Caledonian. Get along.

Finally I would just like again to appolgise to Northern for having a crack last week about not notifying us of them pulling out of the Womens Senior grade, turns out they notified Football South on Tuesday, sadly we were only advised on Friday 5.15pm, when our Club contact had finished for the day. Must of been a busy week at their office.

Another great weekend for Tech with some outstanding team performances.

Prems travelled to Christchurch to play Coastal Spirit in the Cup. Management made several changes due to injuries and unavailabilities (we have 7 out). Spirit currently 3rd in the Christchurch league came out huffing and puffing much to the delight of a group of their ferrel spectators on the far side.

They scored an early goal only to realise it was flagged for offside.. From an attacking corner the Hobbit (Rickerby) got a touch after good work from Lockhart to put us up 1 nil. Shorty before the end of first half we got our second through Lockhart again from another corner. Spirits finishing in front of goal was simply awful.

Walker in goal pulled off one superb save after a goal box scramble. Second half both teams had their chances but were not taken.

This is Cup Football if you don’t score you don’t progress. Now we just hope for a home encounter next round.

In other results, the Fletchers were rather special against the team who beat them in the first round Mosgiel, winning 4 nil. Joe Clark impressed.

Limited report this week due to Club Golf day. I know you will all have fingers crossed for us that we get a home game next round in the Chatham Cup.

On to the Women, our Prems were off due to Uni holidays and the Diamonds hosted Northern at Culling, well kind of……. at 1pm Northern not sighted, rather a disgrace considering nowdays we have phones and emails even in North Dunedin. This would never happen at our Club, FACT.

But happy to grab the 3 points and continue the momentum. The Swans played a good looking Grants Braes side and won 4 nil. Great to see Football Souths Dayna Gray back between the sticks again after an early season injury. The High Flying Swans continue their run. POD The Dynamic Dr McLean.

Great Weekend at the Club as All but one Senior Team win this weekend

Mike’s Premier Men had a Fantastic 2-0 win over Christchurch Coastal Spirit in the Chatham Cup. With 7 regular 1st Team players missing, the trip to Christchurch was mixed with optimism but the Boys battled hard.We eagerly await (along with the committee) the next round Draw on Tuesday.

Fletcher Cup team were facing a strong Mosgiel side. Tech seeking revenge after an earlier defeat against Mosgiel in the season. Roy and Barry’s boys ran riot to end up comfortable winners 4-0 to stay top.

3rds and 4ths were both transferred to Tahuna which was a slight Blessing with the 3rds only having 5 available on Thursday both teams fought hard and were awarded with their second wins of the season well done to the coaching team for working with each other to field teams.

Colts transferred to a Windy Kettle Park up against Roslyn. Number one Keeper Mr President was in Christchurch on Club Duty so Keeping debutant Wade stepped up and the Colts were awarded with their first clean sheet of the season with an emphatic 5-0 win to keep their top 6 aspirations alive.

Frotters were at De Carle but not everyone knew that !!! Having released several players to help out the Gerries the Frotters were 6-1 winners against Roslyn to stay 2nd in Div 7.

Gerries went down 11-0 Poor Pete Mc Call I know how you feel.

Premier Woman hosted the Golf Tournament at Chisholm more later.

Senior Woman just keep getting stronger Swans smashed a Good Looking Grants Braes team 4-0 to consolidate their position in the Top 4 and the Diamonds had a win by Default as Northern have with drawn their Senior woman’s team from the League. Things not quite right at Northern this season.
